Detection of food spoilage

● Food Categories: Detecting early signs of food spoilage and estimating the shelf life of minced meat and fish.
● Note: This use case is extremely useful in a long transportation process that requires careful attention to food (or food ingredients) where the expiration date on the package or box is often insufficient to determine food conditions.
● Limits of detection: Overall and based on current health regulations and research data available in scientific journals, total populations of medium-sized microbes (total viable numbers, TVC) exceeding 107 CFU/g (colony forming unit) or 7 log CFU/g have been linked with unacceptable spoilage and consequently the expiration date of all studied food categories.
